TRANSPORTADORA DE GAS NATURAL DE BAJA CALIFORNIA, S. DE R.L. DE C.V. (TGN) owns and operates a 30-inch in diameter natural gas transmission pipeline, 47 kilometers long (29 miles). TGN provides the CFE and the industrial community in Mexico with clean-burning natural gas. The TGN pipeline company is a subsidiary of Sempra Energy Mexico S.A. de C.V., which has invested $2 billion in various projects in Mexico that involve energy distribution, transportation, storage, commercialization of natural gas, as well as generation of energy.
At Sempra Mexico:
- We have more than 400 local employees to operate our existing businesses.
- We operate three gas distribution companies in the cities of Mexicali, Chihuahua, and La Laguna-Durango that serve more than 130,000 consumers.
- We have built and now operate the most efficient and cleanest thermoelectrical power plant in Mexico. The 600-megawatt (MW) Termoelectrica de Mexicali project is a combined cycle power plant that uses clean-burning natural gas, along with the most advanced emission control equipment.
- During 2008, Sempra began operating the first west coast LNG receipt facility. Located in Ensenada, Mexico, Energía Costa Azul has the capacity of processing 1 Bcf/d.
- Sempra Energy is financially strong, with 2009 revenues of more than $8 billion.
